Genetec and Milestone, in-process

SmartNotifier's capture layer is a plugin that runs inside the VMS process — not a polling service reading an API from outside it. Each platform has its own plugin, and each normalises its events before they leave the VMS host.

01 / Genetec

Security Center

A Workspace SDK plugin, deployed as a standard .gapp and loaded by Security Center at startup. It subscribes to alarm events, resolves the source camera and its parent area for zone naming, and captures a 1280×720 snapshot at the moment of the event.

02 / Milestone

XProtect

An Event Server plugin built on the MIP SDK. It registers for alarm indications and processes initial events only, so alarm state changes never produce duplicate alerts — the single most common failure mode of a hand-rolled XProtect notification script. Snapshots come from an image connection against the camera.

Done remotely, with you on the call. The steps are the same on either platform.

Plugin configuration lives at C:\ProgramData\XPlug.SmartNotifier\plugin-config.json on the VMS host.
